FAQ's

Q: Is it safe?
A: Paintball is very safe. Mayhem is fully insured and has had an impeccable safety record since the beginning (in 1987).

We provide double glazed goggles as standard, Which will massively reduce any fogging up.

We work at a ratio of 1 marshal per 10 players - is a considerably better ratio than 90% of other paintball sites.

Each playing area has its own safe area, so you can take your goggles off and get them cleaned in between each game (which is unique to Mayhem).

For more information about safety, see our Is Paintball Safe? page.

Q: How old do you have to be to play?
A: All players must be at least 12 years old to play (or Year 7 at school )  - this is an industry standard backed up by the UK Paintball Sports Federation.  If anyone is younger than year 7 at school we would recommend Outdoor Laser Tag which is exactly the same as paintball but without the projectile.  We would suggest that any site offering paintball to under 12's is not regulated by the United Kingdoms Paintball Sporting Federation (UKPSF), Mayhem Paintball's UKPSF accreditation number is acc1010.

Q: How far in advance of my intended date must I book?
A: Mayhem has a huge capacity so you can book last minute, but we recommend booking minimum 2 weeks prior to the date of your event.  If there is space and you want to play the very next day, We will always try to accommodate you but booking early does help avoid disappointment. (Please call in for next day bookings)

Q: How many people do we need to play?
A: Anything from 1 - 450 people!  If you would like to play paintball on your own (Minimum 18 players) or just with a few friends, we will team you up with another group(s).  Team sizes are normally between 6-15 players (per side).  If you want a private match you need 18+ people.

Q: Is there a deposit I need to pay?
A: No. We require all groups to pay in full and in advance. You can pay a despoit and then pay the remaining amount nearer the date, but all payment must be made at least 7 days before the event.

Q: What should I wear to play?

A: We would recommend making sure that you are comfortable during the day, so if you wear layers of clothing, either tracksuit bottoms or old jeans and a long sleeved top.  It's also a good idea to bring a jumper or hoodie too, since you can always take it off if you get too hot.  Mayhem supplies camouflage overalls which are worn over the clothes you arrive in, and should keep your clothes clean.   It's advisable not to wear balaclavas or hoods as the heat is pushed in to your goggles. In terms of footwear, boots are ideal, or old trainers with ankle support are good. If you still have some questions, check out our more in-depth answer here.

Q: What are the games like?
A: We play a wide variety of missions, traditional paintball games such as Capture the Flag and Attack and Defend, to new COD based games such as Search and Destroy and Domination.  One game normally lasts about 15-20 minutes, depending on how long it takes for you to complete your objective.

Q: Am I going to need more paintballs?
A: Paint usage differs from person to person, additional paint is sold in bags of 500 for £37.5.

Q: What's involved in a day?
A: Here is a link to our itinerary for a full days paintballing at Mayhem Paintball, please refer to our What's Involved page, however we are flexible so if you need any amendments please feel free to ask.

Q: Can i bring my own Paintballs?
A: No. If you have previously been to Mayhem and have had a bag of unused paint signed out by one of our staff, you can use them by all means. Otherwise, only paint purchased at Mayhem can be used.

Q: Will my kids be playing against a group of adults?
A: No. We always try to keep similar age groups together. As it is not possible to play a game of paintball with much less that 10 players aside, we do have to join various groups together, it is possible that a small group of 12 year olds may be playing a group of (for example) 13-14 year olds, but not a bigger age gap than that.

Q: Does it hurt?
A: We've answered this age-old question for you on a dedicated page. In a nutshell, we suggest that everyone wears baggy trousers or jeans (we also give out free chest and back protectors suitable for women). When you're wearing your overalls, a hit from a paintball can give you a bruise but when you're running around and the adrenaline is pumping, it really isn't that painful.

Q: What time should we arrive on the day that we are playing?
A: Please aim to arrive between 30 minutes before your session time.

Q: What time does it usually finish?
A: Our morning session finishes around 12:00pm, and afternoon Session at 16:00.

Full day Session wraps up around 14:00.

Q: Do you serve lunch?
A: No, we no longer offer Hot food on site. We have vending machines on site with the usual selection of crisps, snacks and Soft drinks, although please note there is no lunch break built into the session.

Q: Do you currently have any job opportunities?
A: Depending on the time of year, we do look to recruit and extend our team with new members.  Applicants need to be 17 or over and simply send us an email (with a CV attached) explaining why you'd like to join the team at Mayhem Paintball.
