Paintball - get, set, fire!

Paintball is a real sport designed on the lines of simple games like
‘bulls eye.’ Players in this sport target opponents of the competing
teams or individuals and eliminate them by hitting them with pellets
which give off paint. These paint pellets (referred to as paintballs)
are fired from a gas powered paintball gun, also known as the marker.
These guns can be operated only when they are powered by propellants
like CO2, compressed air or nitrogen. Traditionally, the objective of
the game is to allow players to experience the feeling of an adrenaline
rush and the thrills of hunting and shooting alike.
The prime equipments imperative in this sport are-
  	      1)	The mask- essential for safety of the players
involved, referees, etc
	      2)	Paintball marker- complete with propellant (CO2, nitrogen or
compressed air) and a loader/hopper set.
Generally, CO2 is preferred over the nitrogen and compressed air
as a propellant, owing to the cheap manufacturing rate and easy
availability.
Paintball games vary in terms of style, order, structure,
settings and the gaming arena-
  •	Capture the Flag- the game in this case generally revolves
around getting to the flag first-hand. Rules may vary in terms of the
goal- a flag kept in the center or the opponents’ flag.
  •	Elimination- this game centers around targeting soft options and
eliminating them, as per one’s choice. Every player plays as an
individual in this case.
  •	King of the Hill- this game is primarily about defending tactics,
used to safeguard a player as target.
  •	Zombie- players in this game are considered ‘zombies’ and can only
be eliminated by shooting them down with goggle hits. Besides this,
there are no defining rules. Anyone is free to target and eliminate
anyone.
  •	Speedball- as the name suggests is a game of short duration. The
gaming arena is divided into two halves, with a flag in the centre. The
object is to grab the flag from the centre of the field and return
safely to your side of the field.
  •	Tag- is a slightly twisted game, wherein a players’ survival depends
on the elimination of the other. A player has to begin by getting
another player out. When that player gets shot, he automatically becomes
part of the game in full swing.
Paintball tanks are additional equipment in the sport. These
tanks are used with the prime motto of heightening the excitement and to
lend a military feel to the game. They are usually utilized in
woodsball and scenario paintball games. Commonly referred to as-
Paintball Armored Vehicles or simply “mechs,” these props are a regular
feature in tournaments and sponsored events. They do not find many
takers in everyday paintball gaming sessions owing to the exorbitant
costs of purchase and maintenance.

Paintball-ing all the way!

Paintball evolving into a professional sport is pretty old news. The
rising popularity of the sport since its very inception guaranteed its
evolution from being just for fun to a serious money earner. Going by
the increase in the numbers of ‘sponsored events’ and the like, one can
easily conclude that league championships are as old as the game itself.
Paintball competitions and organised league tournaments date back to
the 1980s. Ranging from regional tournaments to the World Cup
tournament, players get maximum exposure in terms of gaming skills. It
also goes one big step further in qualifying paintball as a ‘legitimate
sport’.
Some important national and international leagues played today
include Paintball Sports Promotions in the United States, the Centrino
series in Eastern Europe, the Millennium Series in western Europe, the
United States Paintball League in the US, and the National Collegiate
Paintball Association in the US and Canada. Besides this, several local
and regional leagues are also held from time-to-time. Of late, players
have started entering into contractual agreements with professional
teams and are now making their living out of the sport. London paintball is a
fast-growing sport for private groups or corporate events.
The general rules conventionally applicable to this sport are
as follows:
  •	3 referees are present in the field throughout the duration of
the game.
	      •	A player stands eliminated if the paintballs hit him and split
open.
	      •	If any of the paintballs hit the opponent player’s marker or
any other part (shoes included), he stands eliminated.
Safety is an important concern, with regard to the sport. It is
also an important criterion for choosing a particular style of the game
for a competition and the like. The following simple guidelines and
rules can save one trouble with the sport and keep the player
injury-free as well:
	      •	Wearing masks at all points of time during the game is
especially important. Some of the most painful injuries occur due to a
player’s carelessness at taking off the mask at an inappropriate point
of time during the game. One should always refrain from taking off their
mask when they are near, in or around the dead zone or within the range
of the field.
	      •	Playing when one is in their complete senses is a mandatory
rule of the sport. If a player is under the influence of alcohol, drugs,
prescribed medicines and other pharmaceuticals, it only makes sense to
refrain from playing and stay safe.
	      •	Markers must be kept on the safe mode when the game is not on.
This is a safety precaution for oneself, as well as to aid the safety of
other players.
	      •	Refraining from shooting one’s opponent, when they are closer
than 5m is not just advisable but a mandatory rule as well. One could be
penalised in extreme circumstances. Ideally, if an opponent is at a
distance closer than 5m, the player should say, “You dead, don’t shoot,”
and the opponent must surrender. So, go ahead… scoot and shoot everyone. Your time starts- Now!

Why is Indoor Paintball (London) More Famous?

Paintball is a fascinating game which can be played both indoors as
well as outdoors. Outdoors you can play them on rugged terrains and they
are more common in the United States. But in Europe the more famous
form of the game is indoor paintball. London is one of the places that
have several venues to play the game indoors.
Generally, entry fees are charged for admission into any
indoor or outdoor field for paintball. London is famous for it’s
professionally run indoor fields. They also have their own referees.
Usually, in the indoor fields you are required to buy your own
paintballs. London is very famous for this game and even though the
indoor form of the game costs more than the outdoor form people enjoy
it.
During summer season, in several venues of London, an indoor
paintball field is preferred over an outdoor one because of the heat.
The indoor fields are sheltered from the direct heat of the sun and
hence you can save a lot of energy. Thus, you can concentrate on
attacking your opponent alone and stop bothering about the heat of the
sun that eats up your energy. Usually, the indoor fields for paintball
in London are air conditioned.
Outdoor fields have low maintenance costs but they are generally
hot. Hence, indoor fields are built for paintball, London. These are
apt for paintball because of the Astro Turf type surface that covers the
floor. This turf calls for the use of appropriate footwear as regular
cleats will not work well in an indoor turf.
London is a busy city with lots of space constraints. The city
has a huge population density which calls for restricted land allocation
facilities. London does not support large outlaw fields, which are
practically very common all over the United States. Hence, indoor
paintball in London is more famous and is a very popular sport not only
for the local people but also for tourists in the city. You can engage
yourself in this sport in one of the indoor grounds while you are
visiting Europe.
Some indoor fields for paintball, London, have been closed down
because of the high maintenance and services charges associated with it.
Nevertheless, many successful indoor grounds for the game are still
running and players regularly visit these venues for practice and
matches. They have several unique styles of the game that brings back
the players more often. Styles like glow in the dark paint or glow in
the dark rubber pellets are special games which are very popular amongst
the young generations.
Though many people enjoying playing outdoors, nevertheless the
indoor arenas have more facilities to offer. The indoor arenas of London
are usually professionally run but you should check out if the one you
have chosen is an outlawed building or not. If you get caught playing in
an outlaw arena you might end up in deep trouble. Also avoid playing in
abandoned warehouses as it can pose several hazards. If you take care
in choosing the right fields you will enjoy playing indoor paintball in London.

Essex Paintball 25 Years after the Game was First Played

Paintball is a relatively new sport, in which there are teams who try
to eliminate their opponents with paint pallets from a special gun
called the paintball marker. It has become popular in the last twenty
five years. It is a famous sport in European cities. Paintball in Essex is very
famous. This game can be played both indoors as well as outdoors. It can
also be played individually instead of in teams. Certain rules of the
game are as follows:
  • Players are required to capture a flag; whoever captures it
first is the winner.
	      • Players can eliminate the opponent by firing paint pallets at
them.
	      • Players are supposed to defend or attack one particular area.
The team or individual that wins that particular area is declared the
winner.
	      • Players can also play a game where a particular object is
hidden in the play area and players will have to find it.
Depending on the type of game being played this game can
continue for hours at a stretch.
  History behind the game:
Though paintball, Essex, is very famous it actually originated
to replicate the thrill of hunting the wild in Africa. It is based on
the famous book by Richard Connell called, The Most Dangerous Game.
Three friends, Hayes Noel, Bob Gurnsey, and Charles Gaines, based the
theory of this new game on Connell’s book and evolved a new game that
would require players to develop a hunter’s qualities and at the same
time become a fun experience for all those who indulge in the game.
The three friends then started searching for a harmless weapon
that would give the game a touch of reality and came up with the
paintball guns which were manufactured at the Nelson Paint Company. The
first ever game was played in June 2, 1981, wherein a dozen players
played against each other and enjoyed themselves thoroughly.
  How the game has evolved:
Over time the game has evolved and there are different variants
of the game that players enjoy. Originally, the game had limited
ammunition for the paint gun but these days with the advancement of
technology the game has developed a lot. The indoor form of the game is
more famous in Europe. This is due to two reasons: one is the
unpredictable weather of the place, the other reason being the huge
population density and space constraints. Hence, large open arenas are
very few. Paintball in Essex is preferred at indoor arenas.
When the game first began paintballs were oil based. They were
very difficult to get rid off after the game was over. These days paint
pallets all around Europe are available in gelatine shells that are
filled with vegetable oil and food colourings. Arenas for paintball in
Essex have all the modern forms and facilities of the game including the
modern ammunitions. Many arenas for paintball in Essex have also made
glow in the dark, scented, and cold weather paint pallets available for
the players. There are several teams that play tournaments of paintball
at Essex. The game has evolved considerably since the first major
paintball tournament was held in the year 1983.

How to Shoot in Different Positions While Playing Paintball

As paintball becomes more popular among people complex varieties of
the game are being launched. Some indoor arenas offer exciting spaces
like World War I settings. In such settings, players have to adopt
specific strategies for higher success rates. Playing paintball in this
environment is not just about shooting and running, the basic skill of
being able to shoot from all positions is required for anyone who really
wants to enjoy a proper game of paintball. Essex has various
interesting options with regard to indoor and outdoor paintball
facilities.
Shooting techniques are different for different postures and
maximum effect can be achieved only if the right technique is used. If
you are shooting while lying down, you must remember that the accuracy
of your shots will depend on the stability of your elbows. You should
not depend on the stability of the front rest of the gun. It is not a
good idea to lie down on your stomach completely unless you are trying
to hide. The ideal position is to rest on your elbows and in the case
that you need to lower yourself, you should move the elbows further out.
This way you will also be able to move forward by crawling with your
elbows and legs.
If concealed behind a bunker, you should sit with your legs
straight forward. The advantage of this position is that you will be
able to quickly move your head up to look above the bunker to shoot and
then take cover again. Another advantage of sitting is that you can also
shoot from the sides of the bunkers. Quick reflexes are required for
paintball. Essex
paintball facilities are ideal for people who want to hone their
skills.
The kneeling position is also preferred because you can start
running as soon as required. It is also a fairly stable position and
usually people can maintain it for a fairly long period of time. The gun
has to be held at level with the eye. You may lower or raise yourself
with your back while supporting yourself with one knee so that you can
run immediately if required.
The crouching position is effective when you have to suddenly
stop moving and yet remain ready to run at any moment. To lower
yourself, you may bend forward but you should always hold the gun
against your shoulder. Though this is the ideal position to start
running, some people stand upright and then run. This is pointless
because it is easier to start sprinting without standing. This start
will give you more acceleration. However, you should remember that it is
not possible to maintain this position for very long.
The standing position is used in cases where the distance
between the shooter and the target is high. However, practice is
required for such long distance shots. There is no substitute for
practice for success in paintball and Essex boasts several facilities
where you may polish your shooting skills.

Tips That Will Help You Win At Paintball

There are several ways of improving your chances of wining when you
are playing paintball. Players who can adapt to different terrains,
bunker arrangements, and fields tend to do better while playing this
game. This is because players do not get the same field setting each
time they play paintball. London itself boasts of several indoor and
outdoor venues.
It is important that you know how to move while playing this
game. Having the best equipment is no good if you cannot outmanoeuvre
your opponent, and for that you will have to know where your opponent is
without disclosing your own location. Though a mad dash may lead to
victory, rushing blindly without strategy will only result in a face
full of paint. It is usually a good idea to keep moving so that your
opponent never really knows where you are. One way of making your moves
more effective is to take a walk around the field to find the locations
that will offer better cover. This will also enables you to anticipate
the moves of your competitors.
To keep moving constantly, you will have to be in proper
physical shape. If you have to rest after a few seconds of running, you
will not be able to focus on the game.
Shooting skills required in this game are different from the
skills required in shooting with rifles. The techniques of shooting
while sitting, kneeling, crouching, standing and running are different.
Ideally you should be able to shoot in all positions. If you can shoot
while standing, you can take long distance shots because aim is better
in this position. If you have to slightly lower yourself, it is good
idea to spread your legs further apart rather than switch to crouching
position as this cannot be maintained for very long. Holding the gun
tight against the shoulder increases accuracy and leaning forward
reduces height to ensure better concealment.
When you are behind a bunker, you can take advantage of your
ability to move your head up and down very fast while sitting. In this
position, you will also be able to shoot from the sides of the bunker.
if you can hide yourself in kneeling position, it may be a better idea
to kneel because you will be able get up and run quickly if required. To
ensure greater mobility, kneel on one knee and keep the other leg in
such a position that you can move as soon as required.
When you shoot with a rifle while lying down, accuracy is
largely determined by the stability of the front rest. However, this is
always not the case in paintball. London paintball experts
will tell you that you will have use your elbows to ensure accuracy of
your shots.
Also remember that there is no point in overshooting. You
must make sure that you do not shoot any competitor more three times. If
you find yourself doing this regularly, you need to improve on your
aim.
Keep these tips in mind while practising and you will be
pleasantly surprised by the results.
